Alice I.
Coggins
December 13, 1936 – May 3, 2019
Alice Irene (Roth) Coggins, 82, of Rochester, MN took the hand of the Lord and flew on Angel's wings to her heavenly home on May 3, 2019. Alice joins her beloved husband Jack, but takes with her pieces from the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Alice was born December 13, 1936 at St Marys Hospital to Edwin and Amanda Roth. She attended Rochester Central School and Rochester High School. Alice worked for the Mayo Clinic for over 30 years, beginning in the stockroom, moved on to desk attendant and became desk supervisor. Later she transferred as supervisor to the cancer center statistics area then finished her career in the business office: she and her husband retired together in 1994.
On June 7, 1958 Alice married the man of her dream, John "Jack" Coggins of Rochester, MN at the church in which they first met, Trinity Lutheran. Together they enjoyed numerous activities: bowling, golf, travel and cruising world, as well as spending time with the family and friends she loved so much. Many will remember Alice and Jack as the couple who always had a Manhattan waiting, and those manhattans never disappointed. Alice loved playing games and cards, she was an amazing cook and even better baker, always making the most amazing chocolate cherry cake for her eldest granddaughter's birthday each year. Alice loved re-decorating, shopping and fashion, she especially enjoyed wearing the clothing her youngest granddaughter would pick out for her. Alice was a devoted Christian who loved God, she was active in the church, and within her retirement community, Fairway Ridge.
Alice was the mother to two sons, whom she loved fiercely, Brent (Ginny) Coggins of Rochester, MN and Lee (Sheila) Coggins of Friendswood, TX. She was also the proud and loving grandmother to two granddaughters, Jacquelyn (Nate) Proper of Rochester, MN and Charlotte Coggins of Friendswood, TX; and three great-grandsons, Jaxon, Nickolys, and Caleb Proper of Rochester, MN. In addition, Alice had two step-grandchildren Jessie Rueb and Jerik (Susan) Brumm and four step-great-grandchildren. She has also survived by her sister, Esther (Roger) Price; and sister-in-law, Mildred Roth; as well as a brother-in-law, Tom Coggins. Spending time with family and friends was an important part of Alice's life; nothing made her happier than when her loved ones were gathered together.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sisters, Leida (Darwin) Dingfelder and LaVerne (Willard "Bill") Thompson; her brothers, Arnold Roth and Sydney (Margaret) Roth; and sister-in-law, Carol Coggins.
